Job description

Sweet Dirt is looking to employ knowledgeable and experienced Retail Associates to assist customers in selecting suitable cannabis products. The responsibilities of the Retail Associate include greeting and welcoming customers, informing the manager of customer complaints and operational issues, and sharing firsthand experiences of cannabis products to address customer concerns.

Through producing small carefully curated batches of MOFGA certified clean cannabis, our company strives to maximize the therapeutic effects of its products leading to a greater level of well-being and relief for customers as well as gaining a reputation for patient-centric, high quality, unadulterated products, and cultivating a friendly environment for customers and employees.

Our Retail Associates are responsible for helping guests, checking them out, cash handling and customer service. Associates must possess the ability to listen well and communicate effectively with various audiences. As a Retail Associate, you must possess a deep understanding of the products and answer any question regarding strain type and use of product. The company is willing to train the canna-curious; novice cannabis users are encouraged to apply. A strong customer-centric mindset is preferred of all applicants.

Retail Associates report to the Retail Store Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities:

· Responsible for sales and customer experience by maintaining a tidy, safe, and inviting retail environment

  • Able to talk about use of cannabis in a professional and respectful way.
  • Maintain product knowledge.
  • Ensure the sales floor is properly stocked and the presence of the store is well maintained.
  • Greeting customers warmly when they enter
  • Accurately use and maintain the Point of Sale (POS) systems Cannabis 365 and METRC
  • Correct cash handling and discount application
  • Verifying proper paperwork, documentation and ID for patients and guests
  • Promote a work environment that is positive, customer-service oriented, and compliant with established policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Responsible for completion and renewal of regulated/mandatory trainings and certifications
  • Other duties as assigned by the Management Team

Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated English verbal and written skills.
  • Exceptional Customer Service skills
  • Desire to learn about our products and cannabis.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills; Point of Sale software and cash management.
  • Strong attention to detail and a team-player mentality
  • Fun attitude and strong work ethic
  • Understanding of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations as they pertain to the industry, personnel law, safety regulations, local municipal codes and organizational rules, regulations, directives and standard operating procedures.
  • Familiarity with/ ability to learn Office 365, METRC and MS Dynamics

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years Customer service experience
  • Experience in the cannabis industry strongly preferred.
  • Candidates who possess an IIC issued by Maine's Office of Marijuana Policy are strongly preferred.
  • Must be 21+
  • Must be able to pass background check.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Rotating on-call schedule for nights and weekends.
  • Be able to crouch, pull, and lift up to 30 pounds at a time.
  • Must be willing to travel throughout the state of Maine.
  • Potential for multiple day field visits several hours from primary office.
